Gary retired as a Warrant Officer from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2012, after 28 years of service. As an Armoured Crewman serving with both the Royal Canadian Dragoons and Lord Strathcona’s Horse, he enjoyed postings to Calgary, Gagetown and Borden. He also had the opportunity to deploy to Bosnia in '94-'95 as part of CANBAT 2.
In 2000, Gary completed an occupational transfer to Medical Technician where he proudly served with Area Support Unit Toronto, 25 Field Ambulance, and the JPSU during his postings to Toronto, Trenton and Ottawa as both a regular force soldier and completing his career as a reservist.
In 2012, he joined the Royal Canadian Legion as a Service Officer with Dominion Command. As a member of the Legion’s Service Bureau, he represented Veterans in obtaining disability benefits through Veterans Affairs and the appeal board, advocated for Veterans and assisted those in need with obtaining benevolent funds from Canada and the United Kingdom.
Fully retired as of June 2020, Gary now spends time with his wife, Donna, of 24 years, and is hoping to spend more time travelling and seeing his grandchildren. He is an automotive enthusiast and a sports junky with his passions being his 2016 Mustang, the Buffalo Sabres and the Washington Redskins.
