The Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans Welcomes Alphonse MacNeil to the Board of Directors
The Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans (CPCoE) is proud to announce the appointment of Alphonse MacNeil to its Board of Directors. Alphonse brings an exceptional 38 years of service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), a career marked by leadership, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to public safety and security.
Throughout his illustrious RCMP career, Alphonse served in five divisions, retiring at the esteemed rank of Assistant Commissioner in 2014. His vast experience spans municipal, provincial, national, and international levels, where he excelled in frontline policing, major crime investigations, federal enforcement, and protective policing.
As a senior leader, Alphonse was at the helm of several national programs, including Canada’s Air Marshall Program, and was elected Chair of the International In-Flight Security Officer Committee. His expertise in security planning and operations is unparalleled, highlighted by his leadership of the Integrated Security Unit for the 2010 G8 and G20 Summits, which remains Canada’s largest deployment of security personnel, involving over 20,000 officers and private security personnel.
In the years following his RCMP service, Alphonse has continued to make a profound impact as a private consultant specializing in policing, major event security, threat risk assessments, and organizational reviews. His contributions include assisting international law enforcement agencies in countries such as the United States, South Korea, and Northern Ireland, as well as conducting critical reviews like the Moncton tragedy investigation, which provided 64 safety recommendations for police services nationwide.
Beyond consultancy, Alphonse has been deeply committed to leadership development and conflict management training for law enforcement personnel, including instructing and coaching Ukraine’s Patrol Police. His dedication to public service and safety has been recognized with numerous honors, including the RCMP Commissioner’s Commendation, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
“We are honored to have Alphonse MacNeil join our board,” said the CPCoE leadership team. “His wealth of experience in leadership, security, and public service, coupled with his steadfast dedication to improving the safety and well-being of others, makes him an invaluable addition to our team. Alphonse’s unique insights and extensive expertise will help us enhance our mission to support Veterans living with chronic pain.”
