Ray McInnis

In 1977, Ray began his military career in Cape Breton, serving both in Regular and Reserve Forces. While his military career was impacted by occasional back pain (Lumbar Disc Disease), it wasn't until 2015 that chronic pain truly took hold. Years of accumulated joint trauma from physical fitness and sports led to unbearable pain, requiring surgery that left them with more complex conditions, including osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis.

Despite these challenges, Ray maintained an active lifestyle with daily stretches, physical fitness, and rehabilitation. He found solace in MissionVAV, a McGill University app designed for Veterans, offering motivational challenges, breathing exercises, and fitness routines. Staying active is key.

To fellow Veterans managing chronic pain, the message is clear: keep moving. Advocate for continued research on the benefits of medical marijuana, particularly its interaction with medications like those for cholesterol and blood pressure, to provide more effective options for those suffering from chronic pain.

By sharing his story, Ray hopes to inspire others to stay motivated, embrace support systems, and seek progress in the research and treatment of chronic pain.
